【摘要】:Surfacecleaningisnecessarytoprepareclaybrickmasonrysurfacesforapplicationofcoatingsintendedforwaterrepellentprotection.Surfacecleaninghelpstoensureproperadhesionorevenpenetrationofthecoatingandtopreventunintendedsealing-inofstains.Thispracticeaddressessurfacecleaningonly.Otherpreparationorremedialrepairs,suchasrepointingthemasonryorreplacingofunits,maybenecessaryandmustbecompletedpriortoapplicationofthewaterrepellenttreatment.1.1Thispracticecoversnon-abrasivesurfacecleaningofclaybrickmasonrytoremovesurfacecontaminantssuchasdirt,grease,loosematerial,soot,flyash,hydrocarbonresidues,algae,etc.inpreparationfortheapplicationofwaterrepellentcoatingswithoutdamagingoralteringthesurfaceappearanceoftheclaybrickmasonry.1.2Proceduresincludedinthispracticearewatercleaning,detergentwatercleaning,pressurizedwatercleaning,steamcleaning,andacidcleaning.Itisnotintendedforthecleaningofnewlyconstructedbrickmasonry.Useofproceduresdescribedinthispracticemaynotbeappropriatewherethesurfaceisofahistoricalnature.1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecifichazardinformationseeSection5andNote2andNote3.
