【摘要】:Thepurposeofthisterminologyistoprovideuniformcontractionsoftermsrelatingtoplastics.Abbreviatedterminologyhasevolvedthroughwidespreadcommonusage.Thiscompilationhasbeenpreparedtoavoidboththeoccurrenceofmorethanoneabbreviatedtermforagivenplasticstermandmultiplemeaningsforabbreviatedterms.Thescopeoftheseabbreviatedtermsincludesplasticstermspertainingtocompositionandrelatingtotypeorkindaccordingtomodeofpreparationorprincipledistinguishingcharacteristics.Alsoincludedareabbreviatedtermsfortermsrelatingtocopolymers,blendsandalloysofplastics,andadditivessuchasplasticizers,fillers,etc.Note1-AcoderelatingtothecompositionofrubbersisgiveninPracticeD1418.Noattemptismadeheretosystematizeformallyashorthandterminologyforpolymers.Terminology,includingnomenclature,codes,symbols,andformuladesignationsforuseinscientificliteratureinthefieldofnaturalandsyntheticpolymers,arebeingstudiedandstandardizedbytheInternationalUnionofPureandAppliedChemistry.Theseabbreviatedtermsarebynomeansall-inclusiveofplasticsterminology.Theyrepresent,ingeneral,thosetermsthathavecomeintoestablisheduse.Sinceitisrecognizedthatabbreviatedtermsservenousefulpurposeunlesstheyaregenerallyacceptedandused,noattempthasbeenmadetoestablisharigorouscodefordevisingstandardabbreviatedterms.Thiswouldresultinawkwarddeparturesfromestablishedusageofexistingandacceptedabbreviatedtermsandleadtocumbersomecombinationsinthefuture,whichwouldnotbelikelytoreceivewidespreadacceptance.Theabbreviatedtermsnowinusehavegrownnaturallyoutoftheneedforconvenient,readilycomprehendedshorthandforlongchemicalnames.Thisprocesscanbeexpectedtocontinuealongthenaturallinesofleastresistanceandwillserveasabasisforfurtherstandardizationastheneedarises.Ageneralguideforthepreparationofabbreviatedtermsappearsdesirable,however,tofacilitatemoreorganizedanduniformstandardizationinthefuture.Anappendixisattached,whichsuggestsauniformwaytoprepareabbreviatedterms.NotethattheuppercaseletterFshouldbeusedtodesignatephosphateandthatotherelementsmayalsobedesignatedF.

【摘要】:Thepurposeofthisterminologyistoprovideuniformcontractionsoftermsrelatingtoplastics.Abbreviatedterminologyhasevolvedthroughwidespreadcommonusage.Thiscompilationhasbeenpreparedtoavoidboththeoccurrenceofmorethanoneabbreviatedtermforagivenplasticstermandmultiplemeaningsforabbreviatedterms.Thescopeoftheseabbreviatedtermsincludesplasticstermspertainingtocompositionandrelatingtotypeorkindaccordingtomodeofpreparationorprincipledistinguishingcharacteristics.Alsoincludedareabbreviatedtermsfortermsrelatingtocopolymers,blendsandalloysofplastics,andadditivessuchasplasticizers,fillers,etc.Note1-AcoderelatingtothecompositionofrubbersisgiveninPracticeD1418.Noattemptismadeheretosystematizeformallyashorthandterminologyforpolymers.Terminology,includingnomenclature,codes,symbols,andformuladesignationsforuseinscientificliteratureinthefieldofnaturalandsyntheticpolymers,arebeingstudiedandstandardizedbytheInternationalUnionofPureandAppliedChemistry.Theseabbreviatedtermsarebynomeansall-inclusiveofplasticsterminology.Theyrepresent,ingeneral,thosetermsthathavecomeintoestablisheduse.Sinceitisrecognizedthatabbreviatedtermsservenousefulpurposeunlesstheyaregenerallyacceptedandused,noattempthasbeenmadetoestablisharigorouscodefordevisingstandardabbreviatedterms.Thiswouldresultinawkwarddeparturesfromestablishedusageofexistingandacceptedabbreviatedtermsandleadtocumbersomecombinationsinthefuture,whichwouldnotbelikelytoreceivewidespreadacceptance.Theabbreviatedtermsnowinusehavegrownnaturallyoutoftheneedforconvenient,readilycomprehendedshorthandforlongchemicalnames.Thisprocesscanbeexpectedtocontinuealongthenaturallinesofleastresistanceandwillserveasabasisforfurtherstandardizationastheneedarises.Ageneralguideforthepreparationofabbreviatedtermsappearsdesirable,however,tofacilitatemoreorganizedanduniformstandardizationinthefuture.Anappendixisattached,whichsuggestsauniformwaytoprepareabbreviatedterms.NotethattheuppercaseletterFshouldbeusedtodesignatephosphateandthatotherelementsmayalsobedesignatedF.
